Tips on Care for Dress Shirts

To prolong life and maintain the best look of your business shirts, you will need to take care of them. Years of experience have brought us to the conclusion that it is the best to avoid machine-washing. Machine-laundered shirts can loose their shape, shrink and wear out quickly. The dry cleaning isn’t the best solution either. Harsh chemicals used in dry cleaning processes waken and over time break down the fiber and pigments of the fabric. Your shirts will loose their true color and wear out just as quickly as the machine-launder shirts.

The right way to care for your shirts is to pre-treat spots with stain remover ( Spray & Wash works well ), hand-wash with gentle detergent ( we prefer Woolite), dry flat ( on clean white towel ), starch and hand-iron. We recommend Faultless Starch plus Stain Resistance. It makes ironing easier, keeps clothes looking new and really extends life of shirts. Do not make a crease on the sleeves! We believe it is the bed taste.

We do not recommend keeping your shirts covered with plastic bags. Plastic bags prevent air-circulation, which will cause an unpleasant scent and unattractive yellowish stains. When you do need to protect your shirts, cover them with a white cotton cloth; large pillow-case will work well.

It takes time and dedication to give right care to your shirts, but it pays off. Nothing says business more then white crisp shirt!
